I have finally realized that weekends should really be spent with loved ones and friends and of course, blogging. So when I woke up today and subconsciously opened Illustrator + Photoshop + Bridge + Dreamweaver + Cinema 4D after reading my mails and RSS feeds and checking for skype voice messages, I decided to hit the Ctrl + X key on each of the design software (Ctrl + Alt + Del or unplugging the main power socket could have done it all but I wanted it to be ceremonial, ha ha). Sure I need to work, but man, I need time for myself too.

So I fired up Utorrent (I am currently downloading 9 gigs worth of crap, mostly albums), turned off the display and left my work area. First I went out to play with RM and Justine who were busy reenacting a hospital scene where the mom is about to give birth but they said they can't do it without the dad.

I was amazed with how cleverly they got to come up with a story like that, they are only 2 and 6, respectively.

"Well I could be the dad," I offered, wanting to save them from agony.

"No you can't, I am the mama and you're too big to be the papa." Justine refused. RM was sitting on a pink plastic chair, watching intently as if she wants to volunteer to become the dad.

"Oh well. So are you the baby?" I asked RM.

"No, she's supposed to be the teddy bear for the new baby," Justine answered.

I left the girls talking about switching into a new game, which is to reenact a hit and run accident on which Justine would play the role of a shiny Toyota Vios (Justine pronounces Vs beautifully) and RM would be the road.

So I went back inside our house and found my mom rubbing her temples.

"So how's the paint job doin?" I asked. My mom volunteered to paint our windows last week on one condition, she'd get to choose the paint colour. And I don't usually trust her taste.

"The fumes givin me headaches, I can't bear it anymore, I think I'll just look to pay someone finish it instead. Interested?" she smiled at me as if the offer she just gave me was a basket full of bling or true love.

"Nah, alam mo namang allergic ako sa pawis." I ran as fast as I can ala Fiona Apple 'cuz I knew she was about to give me a lecture on ~~Sweat Glands and Skin Diseases~~ Hardwork, Life in the 70s, and of course, Jesus.

Although I have a crazy family (you haven't even heard of my dad yet, humanda kayo) spending time with them is a breath of fresh air and in some cases, with hints of potpourri. So from now on, no work on weekends. Keri? Keri!

I tried to view this blog with Microsoft's Internet Explorer on a different PC (I dont have it installed here anymore) and I discovered that the banner/header graphic is overlapping with the first post. So if you are using IE right now, I'm sure you won't be able to read this, it's covered.

So the best solution I guess is to view it using Mozilla Firefox (DOWNLOAD HERE) or Apple's Safari 3 Beta (DOWNLOAD HERE) or the Opera Browser (DOWNLOAD HERE)

These browsers are easier to use, customizable, and they're not from Microsoft, so they're open-source (except for Safari, it's not open source). Open source meaning the codes are open for development, like anyone in the tech community could help contribute to the development of the software and of course it's totally free.

And since this is not a tech blog, that's all I can say. Haha.

I miss you Y. I know you can’t afford the expensive call rates in Kyoto right now and you’re too busy buying yourself Japanese things and it’s alright, I’m busy blogging too, you know (huh?).

I remember that day when party-girl, soul-sister Y and I went to a demolition site somewhere in the outskirts of Baguio. It was a rainy, gloomy day but because it was an era of brave campus journalists who would skip their classes just to get to where the news is happening, we were there faster than, er, a fastfood chain (Y and I skipped one of our writing classes where we didn’t have seatmates or friends anyway, they were all fugly geeks).

Y, who was small and quick and lesbian, got out of the cab first and ran towards the group of people watching the demolition scene.

“Lesbyanang ‘to, iniwan talaga ako, magpayong ka,” I said, because it was raining and I was wearing an expensive dry-clean-only velvet jacket (campus journalists can be fashionable too, you know). I joined Y after paying the taxi guy.

They were an Ibaloi community, believed in ancestral domains and measured their properties in plain as-far-as-the-eye-can-see statements, no papers and no legal stuff whatsoever. One of the old people, who claimed he was one of the elders (hahaha lolo obvious naman eh), told us that the government is asking them to leave the something-hectare piece of land where their houses were already built, because it is “public property” or something. And the government people wanted them to leave right away, on that day. Kaloka.

I took pictures while Y interviewed more people including the military men-with-big-guns.

One of them gave us a What-The-Feck-Are-You-Doing-Here look and another one just stared at me, or at my jacket maybe.

“Sir, pa-interview,” Y approached Mr. WhatYaLookinAt,Tomboy?

“Ay wag ako, dun, dun kayo,” Mr. WhatYaLookinAt,NiceJacketThough shooed us, pointed at, a lesbian engineer.

To speed things up, Y interviewed lesbian-engineer, we heard gun shots, nobody died, I took more pictures, asked Y to take pictures of me against the demolished houses, yadah yadah,

This post is not all about the demolition anyway (please visit Bulatlat.com or any advocacy sites if you want to read shit like that). It should be about Y and how I miss her sooo much.

So because there were no cabs or jeepneys or magic broomsticks that time, we had no other choice than to walk. Hungry and exhausted I asked Y if we could stop and sit somewhere. So we found this mini grocer and we decided to buy cola and biscuits and I even wondered if we could papak sardines because the cans, all light green with fish figures in the labels, looked inviting. Y wondered if we could ask the manang to cook the dried fish in Extra Virgin Olive Oil, hanging on chicken wire and have it with gin-tubig (Y is allergic to gin-pomelo, she gets all red and giggly).

What I like about being with Y is that we never ran out of what-ifs. We loved to use the phrase “Pano kaya…” that anyone who’d hear us would think we’re lunatic Jessa Zaragoza fans.

"Pano kaya kung bilhin natin lahat ng laman ng store na to noh?" I said.

"Eh pano kaya kung umuuwi na tayo kasi may class pa tayo ng 5." - Y

While passing by the posh houses of South Drive during one of our regular walks, Y would say, “Pano kaya kung sunugin natin lahat ng mga tang**ang bahay na yan?”

“Well be sure the owners are inside cuz I’m sure right now they’re all in Aspen on a ski trip. Pano kaya kung mag-file tayo ng LOA bukas, hindi ako nakapag-drop eh.”

Y automatically answered, “Ok.”

I miss Y soo much. Pano kaya kung hindi na lang siya umalis?

You guys check out this site: www.bloginterviewer.com and read my interview. As usual, I'm no good in interviews so the answers I gave were all lame and crappy. At least the people from bloginterviewer.com featured my blog and now I feel better cuz I a lot more will get to read my blog now, no need to please for site visitors from friendster for now.

I woke up late today and I almost died (yeah) when I realized I'm late for supposedlunch with super friend Pao, who visited the highlands recently. So I had to come up with excuses but I wasn't too creative that time so I just told him I had visitors. It's true anyway, cousins from the south came for lunch.

Nothing big happened today, same old same old routine but I have a lot of deadlines I need to finish. Maybe I'll post more later. Love ya guys. Haha.

Soap Opera

I grew up as an only child. Although I did not experience swanky weekends in the Hamptons or summer vacations in the South of France, I could say I had a luxurious only-child-of-the-family childhood. Until RM arrived.

When my mom told me about the idea of finally adopting a kid, I asked her which part of Africa we are getting the child from. Or Vietnam. Like Brangelina. Or Madonna. She laughed at me and told me we’re getting this 2 year old kid called RM from, well, La Union.

Because I used to stay in Baguio forever and our family home was in the lowlands, I did not get to see RM right away. All I heard were stories from my dad telling me how round her cheeks were and how much food she consumes in a day, as if she came from a starved Mangyan tribe somewhere in Mindoro. Or excited phone calls from mom telling me how many new shoes she bought for her that day, and again how much food she consumed that day. I went home a few weeks after and finally I got to see her.

So you’re the little bitch, I said to myself, when I first saw her, drawing ugly lines at our living room wall, with her crayons. She stared at me with two of the biggest eyes a 2 year old kid can come up with, and came up to me.

Tangna don’t do that, I said, snatching the crayon from her hand.

“Now give your big brother a nice kiss,” I said, and that’s the first thing I ever taught her, how to do the classy beso. Believe it or not guys, she now knows how to do the beso, with matching mwahs (with or without the mwah sound, depending on occasion) and lifting-the-left-foot maneuver.

So RM became the 4^th member of our big family (haha), we bring her everywhere, we buy her all the nice things kids of today love and I teach her all the posh lessons a growing child should learn. But this child is a tiny monster.

One Sunday morning we were left alone at home while everyone went to church. I was cooking crepes and peeling bananas and stuff when RM, came up to me, pointing at her snout.

“Damn are you sniffing cocaine now?”

Of course she’s only 2, the total number of words that come out of her young mouth were around twenty-two, words that refer to food, or two-syllable utterances that has something to do with bathroom activities.

“What is that in your mouth!” I examined her mouth and I saw soap powder, white with tiny bits of blue, as if it was polvoron, all over her mouth and soap dust all over her chest.

Alarmed and didn’t know what to do, I grabbed her in my arms and ran out of the house towards my grandma’s.

Sitting in her wheelchair, my calm grandmother pointed at RM’s mouth.

“Why do you let her eat like that? Punasan natin come here.” She came to us instead.

“Sabon. That’s sabon, she ate sabon, what do I do now?” I said.

“Sabon? Patikim nga,”

My grandma. as if she’s been tasting soap off kids mouths all her life, expertly said, “Ay yeah, sabon nga!” I wanted to celebrate with her latest discovery but quickly I brought RM to their sink and tried to wash her mouth with running water.

“You don’t swallow, the food in your tummy will get clean like clothes,” I warned RM as I cleaned her mouth with my hands and got rid of the remaining soap inside her mouth.

I asked RM to gargle with water and demonstrated it to her, “You do like this o, KLUG KLUG KLUG*, and then you let it out.”

She did what I asked her to do, except the letting-it-out part. RM swallowed everything, practically drinking the soap-solution from her mouth as if it was fresh, hot, breast milk coming off her biological mom’s breast.

Nothing bad happened to her, thank God and we never told our mom about it. When my mom and dad arrived and saw the opened detergent box on the kitchen table, I told her I had to wash something with it.

“Eh bakit matamlay si RM?”

“I don’t know, she ate too much polvoron, that’s why.”

I'm sorry guys, I never thought you'd ever visit my 3rd world crap. Thing is I don't know how you got to find the link to this blog, I never posted my blog address anywhere in the net and the only advertising campaign I do is at friendster, where I flood the bulletins and beg my 600+ friends to visit my blog or when I flood the tagboards of a few people and leave messages like "Nadaan ako, daan ka rin sa blog ko kung busilak ang iyong puso" (translation: I was here, you go to my blog if you have good heart, right?)

Anyway a lot of you complained about the layout, how you have to scroll to the right to view the rest of the blog, or how the elements at the left of the page are not alligned, as if they're Zubiri-Pimentel, competing for the 12th post in the senate. Well I made this post at some online tech forum and begged for love and mercy to help me with the coding. I left the post at around 7:00 AM in the morning I think, and until now nobody cared to respond, and the only pageviews it got were five. Damn, they might even be my own pageviews.

Well when people ask for design help from me, I never hesitate to help them. And at that tech forum, when people have questions like, "How do I use Microsoft Word?" I spend hours and hours of research just to come up with a nice know-it-all, expert post to answer the magic question. The whole idea of this internet-community thing is to "open up ourselves to others" and responding to "Help Me" posts in forums or emails or anywhere in the web is a way of giving back to the community. I blog basically because I want to share my thoughts to other people. I ask for help because yeah I am stupid CSS-wise and I expect that my community, would respond to my post, and if they are too-busy with their high-tech lives, they could at least increase my post's pageviews.

Oh well at least I have readers from MidWest Amareka and yeah, shoutouts to y'all.

The reason why I haven't been posting for like, forever, again, is that I got really busy with work. Sandali, nabother ako saglit sa graphics na ginawa ko sa taas. Look at the shadow, talagang hindi nagbend? Or ganun talaga sa tunay na buhay?

Another reason why it took me 4325 days before I came up with new posts is because I've been working on a new template for this blog. Feeling ko kasi dapat parating nagpapalit ng template. Yung iba nga boypren ang parating napapalit, wag niyo na akong husgahan.

Pero I still need your opinion. Like do I need a new template? When I opened my blog today using Safari 3 Beta for Windows (my plug pa kayong mga hayop kayo) I thought the layout didn't look that bad after all, I just have to come up with a better banner (sa taas).

Sandali Tagalog ako ng Tagalog meron pala akong foreign readers (check out my ClustrMaps). In fact I even have one loyal reader from Russia, hellos to ya, Russian person, Vodka!!

I posted my email address above, I want you guys to write an essay saying everything you want to say about this blog and my new favorite soap opera Impostora. Marilou dropped the Home Pregnancy Test Kit, shocked with what she just realized. She closed her eyes, then stared at her own reflection on the bathroom mirror.

"The feckin Home Pregnancy Test Kit is feckin expired," she whispered to herself. But she knew that she is pregnant. The bulge in her stomach wouldn't hide it, she's on her 2nd trimester for chrissakes. She's bored.

Her ex-boyfriend Marco came out to her a few months before she discovered she was pregnant and without a doubt, she killed him. When asked by the authorities why she had to murder her boyfriend, she said, breaking into sobs, "He was a fag. And he wore my tiara!" The police officer hugged her tight, "I understand young lady, I did that to my lesbian dog yesterday," and he left the crime scene, no other questions asked, no legal actions against Marilou, nothing happened. The paramedics, who dragged Marco's body all the way to the elevator, fed him to dogs.

Marilou accidentally discovered she was pregnant when she curiously peed on a home pregnancy test kit.

"Gee this looks so-good I'm gonna go pee-pee all over it," she said when she stepped on a shiny pregnancy test kit on her way to Jollibee. She pulled down her jeans and started peeing all over the pregnancy test kit, not minding the crowd of people who started to gather around her.

"Is it positive?" a girl asked her.

"Oh yes oh-so-positive, aiming your pee all over this thing feels good, you gotta try it."

After five seconds of fresh urine streaming off Marilou's, the crowd, a dozen of people heading to work and a group of early-morning street sweepers sipping their early-morning lattes, started clapping.

"What the feck is going on, are you guys enjoying my little vajay-jay show?" Marilou asked.

One of the street sweepers, pointed her ipod-nano at the urine-proof 22-inch LCD screen attached at the test kit, "It says you are pregnant young lady, we need to celebrate!"

I am pregnant, she whispered to herself. As if it was her destiny to slaughter people, she brought out a CZ-100 pistol out of her Fendi handbag and started firing at the crowd. They all died, except for one person.

It was Ylmas Vektas.

Senyora, Narito Na Po Ang Tsaa

I wanted to kill myself when I got a late SMS alert from Google Calendar about Rosa Rosal's life story being shown on TV. I only got to watch the last part of Magpakailanman when Mel Tiangco interviews her guests and I snapped a screenshot (which is part of the artwork above). I missed the best part, I dint even see who played the role of Rosa Rosal and stuff. Sad.

Anyway, for those who do not know Rosa Rosal, like if you grew up somewhere else, dont worry, I don't know much about her too. All I know is that she often appears in movies or on TV dramas as the uber rich donya, Roman Catholic and uber nice, would pat the uniformed helpers in the head, usually sitting on a wheelchair-but-still-classy with all the amber and turquiose the wardrobe department could ever find, etc. I can't even recall which movies she has appeared in but one thing im sooo sure about her is that she likes blood.

Although she is not some sort of a vampire or bat or dinuguan lover, she's known for her blood donation activities (because she's the founder? artistic director? leader? secretary? reyna emperatriz? governor? of the philippine red cross). So the next time you run out of blood and the hospital guys find blood quickly, take a deep breath and think of this really nice lady. She's nice kaya!

A week ago gorgeous superfriend Cheng M. and I went out to this tiny place called Caffeine Addict where some boring band was playing and boring people, the type of people who send forwarded messages in Friendster, crowded the place. Luckily we got our own tiny table without even waiting (thanks to Gasul-carrying buff no-name waiter; you are all free imagine yourselves sleeping in his arms on a stormy Baguio night) , big enough to put all our drinks into but too tiny for our handbags. Behind our table was The Couch.

It isn't the world's loveliest couch, it didn't even look expensive. IKEA 1995-ish actually, but I was perishing to move to the couch area because you can’t do mahjong or any other fun activities on our tiny table. I wanted much space because I love laying things on tables, like ashtrays and boxes of cigs and empty plates and maybe maps or floor plans. I imagined us together, Cheng and I, sitting like royalties majestically watching a horse race, on The Couch. While on The Couch, I thought, it'd be ideal to throw darts at people who stare at us, or slap stupid waiters who give us the wrong orders. The Couch is that night’s throne of power. And of all Fun Things.

So I eyed the couch as if it was the land of dreams and non-stop sex; I guarded it with my eyes, I planned to kill anyone who will take it from us. After their probly first round of drinks, the boring people who sat on the couch decided to just leave and watch TV at home instead (I saw it in their bored eyes). And then The Couch was ours.

At first I was silent, Cheng was telling me something about the band but I was half-listening. In my mind I was carefully working on plans during our short stay in The Couch. Should I lie down, I thought, or should I sit properly (Cheng brought her feet up on The Couch), should I call friends to come over and enjoy The Couch with us? The band’s first set of songs is almost over when I finally decided to just sit down, like a normal person, on The Couch, because I can’t take-off my shoes and sit ala Cheng. We were having a grand time, Cheng drank a lot and I since I don’t drink much, I drank little, haha. Until the invasion of The Couch.

Two girls, who were in Genevieve Gozum-like outfits, holding steaming mugs of coffee close to their chests, sat on our couch. Airplanes and pilots ask permission to land. Boyfriends during 3^rd-dates ask permission to ask. I remember asking permission from my mom when I was young if I could use drugs, and although she said NO, the thing is, at least I asked. But these two awful girls, my friends, sat on OUR couch, as if we were in the park and the couch was labeled “For Trashy Coffee-Drinking Girls Too” They could have made smoke signals from their steaming coffees to tell us that they wanted to share The Couch with us. But they did not. Instead they sat there, enjoyed the music while Cheng and I, grew silent for a moment, planning our next move. “I swear to God if these girls are gonna sing along the next song im gonna go grab their boobs off their chests and turn them into bloody play doh” I thought to myself, waiting for Cheng to say something. (The girls were lucky because the next song was some instrumental rendition of Feeling Good or Feel Good or whatever song). Cheng started to whisper her thoughts, some are violent and some are, well, normal (Tangina taktakan ko ng abo yang kape nila eh).

Cheng and I decided to reclaim our territory in the classiest way possible, that is, stretching our legs wide open until the next girl had to sit on the arm of the couch instead because we were occupying the whole couch already. We pretended that we needed the space to stretch our arms for warming up purposes. And I decided that my jacket deserved a chance to sit on the couch too, and my other stuff too and Cheng’s too, until the couch become crowded and the trashy girls, like Bush invading Iraq, at last, felt the need to leave us alone, Cheng and I, and OUR couch.

Today, I ate doughnuts and green tea for breakfast. And I bought a newspaper. Why? Because I work up early, after so many years. The loud speakers at this school near my place are playing graduation tunes mebbe because it's graduation day (?) for those sweaty kids I see every afternoon or mebbe the school mistress just wanted to wake me up and remind me of my failures. The sound was in ancient-mono, the most irritating thing evar after Mike Enriquez. Anyway, while I attempted to go back to sleep (cuz I wasnt destined to wake up til this afternoon), i was hearing all sorts of sounds, from AM radio news readers broadcasting crap; to vehicles from nearby South Drive making er, vehicle sounds, which made me decide to just get up and try to experience Baguio mornings.

So I got out, in my trendy pyjamas and went around and realized that people are happier at this time of the day. The Mr. Donut attendant, with all her fresh doughnuts and freshly brewed coffee and fresh Ever Bilena make-up greeted me with the nicest smile a minimum wage earning person can come up with (in a third world country) and the talipapa people, who didnt do anything to make me realize Its-A-Happy-Day, noticed me (because i was in my pjs and i did not even bother to fix my hair) and well, offered me pres pis prom the market. Wait, talipapa = market dba? And the taho vendor, oh that taho vendor, well, he was smoking Marlboro Reds and yeah, he was selling processed soya beans. He, too, didnt do anything. I got so inspired this morning im going back to sleep now. Wtf.

A lot of people are telling me to watch all those shows with nurses and doctors in them or those husbands and wives on soaps and I might try them out someday

This is not a fashion blog, of course, I am not Bryanboy.
But the Spring 07 bags from Louis Vuitton totally caught my attention.

Why? Because I have this same bag.

And I use it to store my old clothes/stuff. And now high fashion people are selling it for hundreds or thousands of dollars, with an LV logo, of course, and people actually think it's worth it when they can find the same bags at Baguio Market for a cheaper price. They even come in different designs; my personal favourite is the Winnie The Pooh design.

Well whatever. People can spend their hardearned (?) money on anything, become fashionistas while the rest of the world is starving, sure thing. I can kill strangers anytime whenever i feel like doing it too, sure thing. But the point is, I have that same bag. Bow.

I woke up with Lito's sudden pulling over. He sent gravel and dust in a kaleidoscope of excitement, something that gave him a weird sense of fulfillment, like an 18 year old orgasm.

"Motherfucking other mothers! What's going on?" I yelled at him as if he owed me sixty years worth of pasaload.

"Sorry senyora, I just had to do it 'cuz I've been wanting to do it since Km. 5," he tilted his head to the side, regally, like Mother-Lily after a box office hit. Gay gay gay. I have almost forgiven him.

"Punyeta kang hudas ka eh di sana tumigil ka sa Km. 5 hayop ka." One of my strengths, according to my mom, is that I am always calm and poised whenever I hit people.

"Sorry po. Pangarap ko na po kasi yun mula pa nong Grade 5 ako." He was smiling as if the blood oozing down his forehead was sweat, the same way other people working for my family would respond whenever any of us would hit them, with anything but the kitchen sink. Of course we all trained them to have class and style at all times.

Lito started working for my mom when he was still a baby. My mom, after receiving the wrong shipment of designer baby clothes instead of her monthly supply of cocaine, hired baby Lito right away, frail and premature.

"What am I gonna do with the fuckin' baby clothes, sniff them?" my mom said after a heated argument with my dad whether to take the newborn child away from his biological family or not. My dad wanted to kill Lito's father and adopt Lito's mom instead.

"I want to play with this cute, child. Look Mimi (that's me), look into his eyes, he's got the word poor embedded in his poor eyes! Hahahahahaa."

My mom abused him with all the nastiest words a bitch like her can come up with, and called him poor as if Lito's purpose in life is to realize until the day he dies, that he's poor.

In gradeschool I heard my mom refer to Lito as "horsefucking-fuck-face-brainshit-maggot" inserting "kooochie kooochie" in between words. Of course I did not tolerate things like that.

"Mom, leave the fuckin child alone, his penis wouldnt even fit into your nostrils yet, why would you wanna call him fuck face?"

"Ay mi Amor Mimi, our family is feeding this filthy shit face of a baby's whole clan of hungry people! Maari natin na tawagin ang sanggol na ito ng kahit anong naisin natin mi hija, subukan mo, wag ka na matakot, halika mi hija." My mom grabbed my shoulder and let me peek into Lito's crib, right beside our boa constrictor Alma's cage.

I felt bliss when I called him shitpie eater. And brainfucker. Blurting out those words I hear from my mom on a daily basis gave me the enlightened feeling no child my age would ever experience. I wanted to hit Lito, the baby, the poor helpless baby, and I did. I was hitting him soo hard I got too excited my mom had to shoot me with tranquilizers we usually use whenever our pet Bengali tiger threatens the lives of our servants.

The tranqulizers sent me to a psychedelic daze of contentment and all I can recall was my mom, holding me in her arms, saying, "Hush now, mi hija, alright now. You did a fuckin good job telling that horrible baby shit he needs to know. Hush now love..." And then everything went black.

And we all lived happily ever after, thanks to booze and cocaine.

There are days when you feel too good about yourself you just wanna go out and kill people. But instead i choose to do a majestic update. A lot of people are gonna kill me because of my blog's inactivity since i dunno when. I know y'all have told your friends all about me and printed flyers and held pride parades in honor of this blog but I was just too busy (or lazy) to blog for the past weeks. I'm like the president of this third-world nation with my approval rating sinking to bottom zero, I know, but No, im no mrs. arroyo cuz i have better skin and the last time i cheated was in highschool when I used SMS to cheat during an exam. plus im honest.

Did i say something about feeling good about myself? haha i'm not gonna talk about that on this post cuz you can always check out the glow in me when you see me roaming the streets of baguio. just reach out your hand and curtsy, like a well-mannerred british girl and slap me. slap me bitches and tell me things like,"Ang sarap sarap mong bata ka!"

You guys like the new layout noh? I like it too eh. If only I could marry my blog layout, I will. Thanks to Mr. Andreas Viklund for the funky design, but I will still be doing a few quickies with the colour scheme and stuff in the next few days. Too bad I did not take my CSS classes seriously (i was too busy using the computer lab's free highspeed internet looking for torrents) that at first I thought what CSS meant was Classy Stylish Shit.

It's All About The Money

After a quick but costly visit to 7-Eleven before heading to work this morning (i bought soda, water, chocolates, cigarettes, chewing gum), I realized i really have to assess my spending habits now and start on a really smarter financial plan whatever for a cute working-class guy like me. So from now on, goodbye to expensive cab rides (i take a cab almost everywhere I go); although I'm not really sure if this is something I can easily give up - unless some people out there (hi ma, hi pa) would have the heart of buying me a car, kahit Altis lang. And I really have to stop my habit of impulse buying, just like last week's body shop tea tree oil facial wash purchase, which i immediately bought after the sales girl told me it gets rid of original sin.

a few of my friends told me to enjoy and pamper myself first with my earnings because im still young and stuff but i dont really think that's something i wanna do after receiving my next paycheck. i just realized that at my age of 21, i haven't saved much and i got to ask myself, 'what if bukas may ibentang Salvation Package for only 30grand, tapos wala man lang akong ganung savings? tapos lahat ng friends ko will be saved and have eternal lives?' right, like dont we all want to be saved? so let's save. Im so gonna save im gonna make it the 2nd best thing next to madonna. so what am i gonna do with my savings? im gonna buy myself slaves. 36 slaves. kidding.

I think im spending way too much, high above what i am earning. i still get regular allowance from my parents, of course, and i could still ask them to buy me new stuff anyway, but I must realize that this wont happen forever, cuz eventually i will have to totally live on my own (or start a non-traditional, vegetarian family) OR id grow old poor, un-moisturized and wrinkled like shar pei dogs.

I was supposed to preview a screener for Babel (2006) this afternoon but after a few hours of downloading, i realized the movie I downloaded wasn't really Babel - it was the uncut version of Bernardo Bertolucci's 2003 flick Dreamers! I have seen this film a few years ago, typical reality/social awakening film but I was impressed at the amount of frontal nudity on the uncut version that ive got to understand the film better. haha. kelangan talaga may hubaran para mas maraming realization. you guys gotta see this cuz i heart it now.

Anyway, no one visits my blog anymore cuz its just too boring. I think I will have to set a brainstorming session with my PR people once again. speaking of podcasts, im planning to put up my own podcast together with a lovely filmmaker/educator/bestfriend-ni-Ina-Raymundo-sa-Tuhog person called Tetet Lumasac. we got the idea after realizing that our conversations on gay liberation, early parenthood and a tattooed-man-staring-at-me-for-at-least-4-seconds-like-he-wants-to-touch-my-fanny while eating chicken gambas and pusit ala pobre at some restaurant kanina were worth-podcasting. so while walking down session i ccaint help but qualify our further discussions on objectivity, Sandra Aguinaldo, and mangga vendors as possible podcast topics. haha, i even took a mental note of tetet's asking our driver if she looks hindi-naligo or not.

speaking of hindi naligo, two girls wearing vendor clothes who really are vendors anyway suddenly appeared in front of me together with their bilaos of mangga kanina while waiting for tetet at the grocer. i asked them what the hell is up with them mangga ladies and the teary eyed girl said, in vernacular, "The police." Tipong, "Mga pu-les." (come on guys they have regional defects, wag husgahan) Anyway, I was about to ask for free taste from their line up of mangga/bayabas products (sawsaw with asin, suka, bagoong, soy?, pawis, frustrations) when her co-vendor, appeared on the upper right corner of the scene on this mini-social commentary film, said, "Wala na," so they quickly went back to business. yun lang, akala niyo may social commentary opinion ecker ecker noh? haha, fill in the blanks my friends.

At last, I'm goin back to the lowlands, after what, weeks of not seeing my mom and justine/ian troy and lola and the birds, im finally, finally going back to sea level.

My friends, meet Justine. She's one of my youngest clients whom I worked with on her portfolio last summer and she paid me nothing. Oh well, i'm the king of pro bono. Anyway, we never got to finish her portfolio because she described my work as "the ultimate manifestation of Pinoy mediocrity." She's only 6 years old for chrissake and she seems to know everything, while, did you know what I knew when I was six? Nothing. Anyway, i love this child. I have pasalubong for her later (child on pic above is Justine).

And I caint wait to see my mom and tell her stories about work. I heart our endless chikka sessions at her bedroom ~~while I comb her hair (like an effin teenage Victorian daughter, lol) or while I try on her new makeup and moisturizers~~ while i tell her about my girlfriends and how I love them so much or how I am so into girls with huge mammaries nowadays. Tho' all our conversations always always end up to her discussing Jesus and how Jesus loves me sooo much-he-died-in-the-cross-for-all-of-us (which I always attempt to divert to talking about Kris Aquino's pregnancy), I still love my mom. She's the prettiest woman in the world.

I am really serious on making this blog successful I had to ask my personal feng sui advisor on lucky dates for doing updates. Business owners do this before deciding to open up their businesses. Beggars on the streets use feng sui on choosing strategic places to beg (that's why you dont see beggars inside malls, that's feng sui actually) Besides, Kris Aquino's Feng Sui film made millions in theatres worldwide.

But before coming up with the dates the feng sui guy spent hours consulting old chinese texts which in my opinion were just old chinese calendars he would later wipe his ass with. My hair had grown three inches longer and still this century old chinese guy haven't yet found the lucky dates i have asked him to find. I was reading old text messages from poor people asking for pasaload when finally he spoke.

"Ikaw may Cha-neese blood?" He stared at me as if my face was smeared with
Chinese characters which bear the answer to the meaning of life.

"Of course I have Chinese blood. My grandmother was born in Shanghai in the 1930s
and moved to the Philippines after WWII with her Chinese
family. They brought a lot of lumpiang Shanghai and siomai and silk with them."

Of course my grandmother wasn't Chinese, she was half-Korean, half-alcoholic.
But i was so bored i had to lie.

"Pak ikaw not Cha-neese wala swer-te."

"Fine, just gimme the effin dates will you?"

As if I was pointing a gun at his Chinese head, the feng sui master quickly wrote down random numbers on the back of one of his calendars. I snatched it quckly from him.

"Thak-you-very-much-have-a-nice-day." I left a few coins on his table and walked out of his small office.

On my way to the door i saw old photographs of what I assumed as the Chinese guy's family - a young Chinese lady holding a small boy and a Chinese opera lady which as i child i thought was a fiercer Chinese version of a white lady.

When i was still a little child I had a playmate I exclusively called Ann-ann who used to live in a huge house next door to our rented house in Baguio. Ann-ann's family was Chinese, her parents used to own a small restaurant in Session Road which is now turned to an ukay shop. And oh boy, I envied her for being chinky eyed and for being a million papaya soaps whiter than me (i was a dark kid) so much that i festered my mother with a lot of how-come-im-not-Chinese questions. To shut me up, my mother told me about Ann-ann's family secrets (which i have recently learned were not true), how they killed and ate their cats and how they started serving feline siopaos at their restaurant. I was about to open my mouth to yawn when my mother, thinking that i was about to say something, left the room faster than the speed of light.
But still I grew up wanting to be Chinese. When I was in highschool, i had a classmate who was half-Chinese and i kind of had a crush on her. It's not that i wanted her to become my girlfriend or my future wife or anything, I just liked her for being chinita, and for owning the best-looking, moisture-rich pimple-free skin an adolescent could ever wish for. Her skin was so moisturized you'd see her uniform dripping with moisture. I remember getting excited the day after Chinese New Year to go to school and get details on How Chinoys Celebrate Chinese New Year in the Philippines from this girl. Dying to know how her family celebrated that year, on my way to school I wrote down carefully chosen questions to ask her like, "Did they have too much fireworks that night his Chinese grandfather instantly died from a heart attack?" or "Did they have soo much food in their dinner table one of his family members died?" Unfortunately i wasn't able to ask her any of these questions because she skipped school that day. Her seatmate told me that she was in the hospital and was fighting for her life due to food-poisoning.

In college I have secretly admired F4. I liked them so much I have written Jerry Yan's name in my heart with invisible ink and would often speak to imaginary F4 members in my room everyday telling them stories about school, in, of course, Mandarin (although i was a language major, my department did not offer Mandarin in our elective classes so all i did was to speak softly, barely audible to Vaness Wu and just clench my jaw to produce Mandarin-like sounds).

I have no idea how my chinese obsession ended. I have had other obsessions like an obsession with the expression, "Kumusta naman?" (which i could be explaining in the next few posts) and just like my-wanting-to-become-Chinese-so-much obsession, they all faded away from my psyche subconsciously. The only Chinese thing that has made the hugest impact in my life is a red book (from a big eyed friend who visited Shanghai years ago) which has the words of a great Chinese man who said:

"...Yaong nadarama ay hindi kaagad-agad mauunawaan, at yaon lamang nauunawaan ang higit na malalim na nadarama."

And oh, about the luckydates the feng sui master gave me, they all fell on weekends. So i decided to just do my posts on Sundays, just like, gee, this post!

Well, I Heart Stuff and Other Blahs started out as a ~~shoe-shine boy in the late-70s and eventually received his degree in,~~ daily bulletin post in Friendster where i posted crap and people thought it was just sooo clever they wanted to name an African territory of 50 million poor people and a million Manila Zoos of animals after me. But due to the heightened political crisis in the third world a few months ago plus a sad row with my Korean hairstylist, I decided to just stop the posts. But hey, y'all stop crying cuz im back.
